The Pierre and Tana Matisse Foundation awards program-specific grants to nonprofit, tax-exempt organizations serving the five boroughs of New York City. While the Foundation recognizes the importance of lifelong learning in the arts for all ages, priority is given to programs serving young people under age 18 and/or in grades PreK-12. Please note that the Foundation does not fund individuals, nor does it fund an organization’s operating expenses.
Arts and Arts Education Grants
The 2026 General Grant Cycle for the Arts and Arts Education Grants will be open from Wednesday, November 5 to Wednesday, December 10, 2025, 11:59pm EST. Organizations wishing to apply will be able to submit a Letter of Inquiry (LOI) through the Foundation’s online portal, accessible here during the submission period. The LOI question list can be accessed here.
As LOIs are received, Foundation staff may reach out to request clarifying information. All submissions received by the deadline will be reviewed. In early 2026, applicants will be notified whether they are invited to submit a full proposal. If invited, full proposals will be due in spring 2026.
Please note that submissions received outside of this process will not be considered.
